625 Squadron Training Pathfinder Ride

We all met up at the International Bomber Command Centre - as this was a two-day project. Our first ride would be in an anticlockwise direction heading a bit north.

Today's objective was the 625 Squadron Memorial in the village of Kelstern, the former site of RAF Kelstern established in the First World War.

It was to be an easy-going ride, an opportunity to chat - us members of The Pathfinder Rides Organising Committee rarely got to meet face to face as we are spread as far afield as Lincolnshire and France. Coffee stops were also promised as I hadn't eaten since breakfast.

So, off we set... 22 minutes and 33 seconds later, we stopped—a puncture. I won't bore you with the details of how and why, but 2 of us headed back to the IBCC; I got my car and took the walker amongst us over to one of our event sponsors, GIANT LINCOLN.

Two hours later, new shiny wheel and thanks to GIANT, it was Take-Two, and off we headed north towards Market Rasen. We did have to make a U-turn at one point when the Komoot app took us into a farmyard, and we had a brief "get off of my land" moment. We apologised profusely, blamed Komoot, agreed that maybe we had seen the 'private road' signs and continued on our way.

Another puncture set us back a bit again and with it our last hope of perhaps stopping for an elusive coffee. We arrived in Louth at around 6 pm.

Along with a full turnout of the Pathfinder Rides Organising Committee, a couple of pints, a curry, and the day finished nicely.

All ready for tomorrow when we will do the whole thing again - in reverse.
